Long hailed in South American countries, Yerba Mate is finding a new audience in North America. It provides energy without the jitteriness suffered by coffee imbibers. It's herbaceous and grassy character dances with succulent mangoes for a fun-filled cup that is great hot or iced. Our yerba mate is hot air-dried and never smoked.

Mangoes are an important fruit in India, showing up in fashion, literature, history, and religion. They are India's national fruit, as well as the national fruit of Pakistan and the Philippines. Across the ocean, yerba mate (pronounced "mah-tay") is equally important in South America, particularly in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, and Brazil. Enjoyed as a social drink that gets passed around the group, it was particularly popular with South American gauchos (horsemen) in the 18th and 19th centuries. Put them together and you've got a tea that can be popular anywhere in the world.
