Raspberries are a perennial plant in the rose family, a family which includes fruits like apples, pears, stone fruits, and berries in addition to the flowers we know and love. Like roses, raspberries grow on woody, thorny stems, which can make them difficult to pick by hand. Though their most common color is red, they also come in black, purple, blue, and yellow. Worldwide, Russia accounts for nearly twenty percent of the raspberries produced, with Mexico, Serbia, and Poland next in line. When making tea, both the fruit and leaves can be used.
